Nature Walk at Dadadalli (Enne hole Lake), Mysore district

Weather: Clear sky, sunny and hot 

Participants: 34 members 

Habitat: Lake, Non-Irrigated fields, fallow land

Highlight:

  • Sighted totally 75 bird species, among them 14 are winter and local migrants  
  • Observed- Two large groups of  SPOT-BILLED PELICANs Pelecanus philippensis (totaling 292) fishing for their off-shoots present in Kukkarahalli, Ranganathittu and Kokkarebellur pelicanry.
  • A large congregation of  800+ COMMON COOT Fulica atra  were foraging in the lake. 
  • S/S Sadananda KB, Chandrashekar AP, Sheshagiri BR, Tanuja DH, and Somashekar guided participants on various nature topics like -BIRDS, BUTTERFLIES,  MAMMALS, PLANTS, CLIMATE, INVADING SPECIES, FARMING during session.

8.     LITTLE RINGED PLOVER Charadrius dubius

9.     GARGANEY Anas querquedula

10.  NORTHERN SHOVELER Anas clypeata

11.  MARSH HARRIER Circus aeruginosus

12.  COMMON GREENSHANK Tringa nebularia

13.  BLACK WINGED STILT Himantopus himantopus

14.  WHISKERED TERN Chlidonias hybridus
