Winter Bird Monitoring Program 2024-25

INVITATION:

SINGLE-DAY MID-WINTER BIRD CENSUS -19/01/2025: Winter migratory and local water-fowls have been observed and recorded in and around Mysore during the 2nd / 3rd week of January every year for 39 years. We shall be grateful to those who initiated the program way back in 1987 in Mysore. Valuable data generated by this could be used for conservation purposes, meanwhile we birders get to understand the birding life in the region. This time Single day mid-winter census will be held on Sunday, 19/01/2025. Please keep a day free for this season's bird census. Please note:

1. It is not a competition; observe the birds in the field for their proper identification, activity and it will fine-tune our birding skills.

2. Intimate in advance the route preferred, so that other interested birders can join the team /can take a different route. Try to have a minimum of TWO MEMBERS for any unknown eventuality and better documentation. Try to cover mainly highlighted locations in detail, other locations can be covered only if time permits. If you wish, can cover other locations that are not mentioned here, but it should be in three districts – Chamarajanagar, Mandya & Mysore. 

3. Scribble on a piece of paper OR enter it in excel OR use ‘e-bird’ before forgetting. Post the link on Facebook/mysorenature or the data filled form/Excel sheet for data compilation.

4. In case eBird is made use of, then share with MMCBCG (User name, for easy compilation) and  awcindia.

5. Share your interest with your friends, especially students from life science and introduce them to the beauty of birding.
